Security Tips for Cyberbanking
Issue Date:[2011-12-11]

In order to make Cyberbanking safer and avoid losses, we recommend that you follow the tips listed below.

Make sure you log in to the right website.

The official website of BEA is http://www.hkbea.com.cn.  Rather than clicking on a link to the site, we recommend that you enter the address directly into your browser's address bar.

Be wary of false websites and report any doubtful websites to us by dialling 95382.  We also recommend that you check the security certificate of our Cyberbanking service by double

clicking the padlock icon in the bottom right corner of the browser after you log in.

Safeguard your accounts and passwords.

Do not share your account number and password with others, including representatives or employees of BEA China (they do not need to know your password), under any circumstance.

Do not believe any attempt to get your card number and password via email, text message or telephone.  BEA China will never request your card number or password in this way.

If you believe your Cyberbanking password is known by another person or website, please immediately log in to Cyberbanking or go to a service counter to reset the password.

Choose a password which is difficult to guess and avoid using your birthday, telephone number or a number consisting of the same or consecutive digits.

Set a different password for Cyberbanking than those of our other banking systems (i.e. other online services, ATMs, passbooks and bank cards) to avoid disclosing all your passwords at one time.

Do not save the password in your computer or write it on a piece of paper or card.

Change your password periodically.

Please check to see if anyone is watching before you sign in to Cyberbanking or confirm a transaction.

Ensure the safety of your computer.

All computers are susceptible to viruses and hackers, so please keep the following tips in mind:

Install a personal firewall to prevent hackers from hacking into your computer.

Install anti-virus software and update it regularly to guard against new viruses.

Do not open any unsolicited email.

Please check whether your computer has any spyware or malware installed which may send your information to others.  Before installing any software from unsafe sources, please consult with

a computer professional.

Take any other necessary preventive measures

Do not use Cyberbanking in a public area (i.e. Internet cafe, public library) because it is impossible to know whether there is any malicious monitoring on these computers.

Set a password for your computer to protect your information from being retrieved without permission.

Exit Cyberbanking by clicking the "log out" button at the top right corner of the page after each use.

Do not disclose your username, password or any PIN to others.

Please protect your banking information with due care and check it carefully.

Do not leave your computer while using the Cyberbanking service.
