BEA China Joins Hands with Shanghai Charity Foundation and Huashan Hospital to Launch the Medical Staff Care Programme

On 11th January, 2021, The Bank of East Asia (China) Limited (“BEA China”) joined hands with Shanghai Charity Foundation and Huashan Hospital for the Medical Staff Care Programme signing ceremony, at which RMB 1 million was donated to Huashan Hospital. As the first programme by the Shanghai Charity Foundation-BEA Charity Fund (“the Fund”), the Medical Staff Care Programme aims to provide support to medical workers in the battle against COVID-19 by offering subsidies for front-line medical workers, providing training to nurses and more.

 

 

“As the novel coronavirus has hindered our lives, BEA China joins hands with Shanghai Charity Foundation and Huashan Hospital to launch the Medical Staff Care Programme in the aim of supporting anti-epidemic work by any means.” said Mr Montgomery Ho Shun-wah, Executive Director & Chief Executive of BEA China. “We will continue to fulfill our corporate social responsibilities as well as our long-term development commitment on the Mainland.”

 

“Established in 1994, Shanghai Charity Foundation has carried out a series of charity initiatives to help disadvantaged groups in society, continuing to adhere to its credo ‘Rely on the Society to Run Charity, and Do a Good Job in Charity for Society’.” said Mr Shi Nanchang, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Charity Foundation. “I believe that the partnership with BEA China will benefit more people through anti-epidemic initiatives.”

 

“Epidemic prevention work requires long-term support from all segments of society.” said Mr Mao Ying, Director of Huashan Hospital. “The implementation of the Medical Staff Care Programme will definitely provide necessary assistance to this long-term work and strengthen the confidence of front-line medical workers.”

 

With RMB 2.5 million funding from BEA China, the Fund is jointly established by Shanghai Charity Foundation and BEA China. As one of the significant platforms of BEA China to fulfill corporate social responsibilities, the Fund aims to support public health initiatives in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. Staying true to its original purpose with a century’s heritage, BEA China will commit to calling for more partners to participate in the corporate social responsibility activities in order to benefit more people in need.
